Gum disease has been known to be one of the top diseases that currently infect a majority of adults in the US and it is no exaggeration to say that a majority of this population are not aware of it. For that matter, it is imperative that one must constantly be conscious of their own dental health to avoid getting gum diseases, especially the dreaded gum recession – a condition wherein the gums slowly move away from the teeth, exposing more of them, making it so that the teeth look longer.
Receding gums and loose teeth are just some of the scary effects one can get from gum diseases. If these are not enough to scare someone into taking better care of their dental health, there are several other cases wherein the symptoms include swollen and discolored gums, bleeding gums or gums that easily bleed when touched, teeth and gums that are extra sensitive to hot and cold drinks, and chronic bad breath – all of which really tend to get in the way of one’s daily life.
If it’s too late for prevention and you’ve fallen victim to the disease, then it’s time to look into treating your gum disease before it gets worse. Treatment is pretty simple actually and several methods can be done at home or can be bought on local stores. First thing you’d want to immediately do is to brush your teeth – properly. By doing it properly, I mean having to use a soft bristle toothbrush and a fluoride toothpaste, and doing it in a smooth, circular manner. This way, you are sure that you cover all surfaces and not be too harsh on your gums to aggravate the disease further.
Another thing you’d immediately want to do is to make a simple solution composed of salt and warm water and rinse your mouth with it. The salt here gets rid of bacteria by drying up the infected areas and the warm water promotes blood circulation which plays a major factor in getting nourishment back to the gums. Also, you’d want to take up a stable source of vitamin C as a means to speed up healing on the gums. Fruits rich in Vitamin C and D are great for treatment for loose teeth so definitely get those into your daily diet.
If home remedies are not enough to address the problem, it is highly recommended to visit a dentist as they could recommend a good antiseptic or antibiotic to better address your gum disease problems.
